When Richard Nixon ran for the presidency, Ray Kroc, founder of McDonald’s, gave him 1 million dollars. In exchange, Richard Nixon exempted fast food workers from minimum wage. Nixon was later overridden by Congress, but ever since its founding in 1955, McDonald’s has been a unionbusting company.

In New York, 300 picketers were stationed outside the McDonald’s in Times Square. 19 were arrested.  Dozens were arrested elsewhere.
