Both Sides Wrong: The Bureau Of Land Management Vs A Nevada Cowkilling Scofflaw
The Bureau of Land Management
1. The Bureau of Land Management, a branch of the Department of Interior,
has for many decades used tax dollars to promote mammal slaughter,
has given ranchers grazing privileges at absurdly low rates, far below
what the ranchers would otherwise pay. In so doing, the zooicidal policies
of the BLM have caused drought, mudslides, desertification. No trees can
grow where cows and sheep graze.
paid nearly 1 million dollars to a Utah wrangler (cattle rustler) to
herd the cattle to Utah where they were to be sold on an auction block
3. killed 40 cows and 2 bulls… and buried them in a mass grave
4. rounded up wild mustangs by brutal helicopter
5. has had many extermination programs for coyotes, prairie dogs etc.
6. slaughtered 800 of the tortoises they claimed they were protecting
These are just a small fraction of their zooicidal and ecocidal policies.
Sean Hannity is perhaps ignorant of the desertification effects of raising cattle in semidesert.
He wants cattle owned by a Nevada rancher who grazes on federal land and who has refused for 20 years to pay grazing fees… to be saved… in order a few moons later to be murdered.
Perhaps Hannity is also unaware of the agony of the animals when killed, of the copious diseases their flesh causes, of their role in global heating and freezing, drought through tree destruction and eating grasses needed for the raincycle.
He like many warmongers hosted by ABC and Clear Channel gave an hour of air time to Cliven Bundy, Nevada rancher, who thinks a thousand pound cow’s hooves would not harm a tortoise.
Cliven Bundy has not paid grazing fees on federally owned land for 20 years.
“Despite a running tab of court injunctions, complaints and conservation conflicts involving the BLM, the National Park Service, Clark County and environmental groups, and nearly $1 million in fines, Bundy has continued to run cattle on the federally-owned Bunkerville Allotment in the southern tip of Nevada, about 100 miles from Las Vegas.”
The Bureau Of Land Management has for many years been a pawn of ranchers. Absurdly low rates for grazing on federal land have been charged. In its autocratic roundup of wild mustangs in opposition to the popular will, helicopters were used. According to Associated Press,
“(AP) The U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s internal review of a wild horse roundup in Nevada found some mustangs were whipped in the face, kicked in the head, dragged by a rope around the neck, and repeatedly shocked with electrical prods, but the agency concluded none of the mistreatment rose to the level of being inhumane.”
The conflict between the Nevada rancher and the BLM is one in which both sides are at fault.
A BLM agent tasered Cliven Bundy’s son.
